Why GROW Uganda?Scripture says: But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to be bear fruit. Jeremiah 8: 7-8 This is who we want to be, and this is how we want our communities to be living. We want to grow continually, knowing it is all done by abiding in Him.

Where Are You Located?Homebase for GROW is Mpigi, Uganda, about 40km outside of the captial city of Kampala. Why? Because from day 1 the local community and leaders were on board with the project, which orginally began as just a agricultural partnership, so we continued moving forward and dreaming bigger.

Why Do You Work with Youth and Young Adults? It is reported that more than 70% of the population is under the age of thirty! That means Uganda is one of the youngest countries in the world, and with the high rate of unemployment, there are many young adults who do not have access to jobs and an income. In addition to this, the rate of instituionalization of youths is very high here in Uganda, that means as kids age out of the orphan system, many are not prepared for what life is like outside of the orphanage walls. We are helping to bridge that gap, by walking alongside and giving access to income building skills.

Can We Visit?Sure! We love vistiors and we love meeting people who are passionate about seeing people supporting themselves and influencing their communities for generations. Are you going to be in Uganda? We'd love to meet up and swap stories and share what each of us is doing. Are you wanting to volunteer or intern? Awesome! We love that, and are in the process of creating a program that is focused on cross cultural learning. We want to show the true Uganda, one that shows Uganda's growth, passion, and ability to solve its own problems. We are passionate about telling stories that are rooted in truth and we want any experience we provide to mirror the same. Look forward to 2019 when we launch our experiential programs, if your interested send a message to Heathergrowuganda@gmail.com

What is on the Top of the List for Funding?Currently, we are really focusing on getting the two classrooms up and running. Right now we have to bus people into town to borrow space from another ministry, and it is incredibly time consuming and costly. With classrooms finished, with electricity, we would be able to live and work full time in Mpigi. Secondly, we have at least 4 schools who have contacted us to run our 2 leadership conferences, but funding is just not there yet. We use funding from our general funds to help with these sorts of projects.
